- Wildfire Mitigation Specialist certification
- 1+ years as a Local Program Coordinator
- Field experience as a Wildfire Mitigation Specialist
Course Description
This course is designed to train Local Program Coordinators in the Wildfire Mitigation Specialist Program to administer and certify users from their agency as Wildfire Mitigation Specialists.
Course Structure
- Day 1 – Classroom-based learning
- Day 2 – Field training (1/2 day)
Course Learning Objectives
- Prepare students to instruct the Wildfire Mitigation Specialist training to staff in their agency.
- Provide thorough instruction on key messaging and learning objectives of the Wildfire Mitigation Program.
- Provide knowledge to instruct future students in wildfire behaviour, building basics, wildland urban interface, forest considerations, assessment process, and program management.
