who we are
The BC FireSmart Committee (BCFSC) members consist of the BC Wildfire Service (BCWS), Office of the Fire Commissioner (OFC), Union of BC Municipalities (UBCM), Fire Chiefs’ Association of BC (FCABC), Ministry of Emergency Management and Climate Readiness (EMCR), Forest Enhancement Society of BC (FESBC), First Nations’ Emergency Services Society of BC (FNESS), Indigenous Services Canada (ISC), BC Parks, Parks Canada and Ministry of Forests– Regional Operations (MOF).
The BCFS’s mission is to build wildfire resiliency and reduce the negatives impacts of fire for everyone in the province through FireSmart. In meeting their mission they commit to aligning with FireSmart Canada, implementing their strategic plan, developing an annual work plan and budget and providing stakeholders and interested parties with one governing agency for FireSmart in BC. The vision is to create a wildfire resilient province where everyone works, plays and lives FireSmart.
